In nature, flowers use biology as poetry. In the floral industry, they're grown and harvested for purely monetary purposes. These plants are seeded, marketed, and distributed for the sake of profit. These photographs use the leftover flower arrangements from weddings, which is the largest market for said industry. They're intercepted, so to speak, before they're put into landfills because they're too toxic to be composted. We have a short window of time before the flowers wilt and decay. By using these flowers for a second purpose, they're carbon footprint is thus divided among two purposes, rather than just one. These images are an attempt to preserve their temporary beauty and mitigate the recklessness of the commercial floral industry.
